Position Details

Recreation Assistant 

The Campus Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting with the development, organization, and promotion of recreational and active living programs on campus. Activities and events will be designed to increase student engagement and promote personal sustainability. The incumbent will not only be planning events but will also be active in the recruitment of student volunteers and assist with program registration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will assist and eventually manage the direct oversight of the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and coordination of special events. For example, Glow Yoga, Wellness Wednesdays, future movement breaks, and any new initiatives the successful candidate decides to create.
  • Market and promote all events they are leading.
  • Assist with the development, delivery, organization, and implementation of a campus recreation programs in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
  • Assist with the evaluation of programs, through program evaluations, attendance tracking, data analysis and polls.
  • Contributes to the planning of an active living / Move More campaign and activities for the 糖心原创 community.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of an Active Living promotion curriculum, which can be used long term to promote personal well-being and active living to students.
  • Help with the recruitment, training, and leadership of volunteers.
  • Work with the Program Manager, Campus Recreation & Active Living to create and complete semester goals.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be able to commit to 10 hours of work per week within the active semesters. The work schedule will need to be flexible to accommodate scheduled programs.

Intramural Assistant

The Intramural Assistant works directly with the Campus Recreation & Active Living, Program Manager to develop, organize, market, and manage the daily operations of numerous recreational drop-in sports, leagues, and tournaments on campus. This position work collaboratively with multiple Intramural Sport Organizers, Campus Recreation Assistant, Safety officer, referees, volunteers, and student participants. Activities and events will be designed to help increase a student sense of community, campus engagement and promote personal sustainability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will assist and eventually managing the direct oversight of the following responsibilities:

  • League administration, including league schedules, recording of all game statistics, and posting them online.
  • Communications of game schedules, monitor Intramural email account, roster development based off of registration list and submitted rosters, monitor standings and statistics within the leagues and tournaments.
  • Ensuring the Intramural Sports Guiding Principles Handbook and rules are up to date.
  • Assist with the set-up and takedown of equipment, training sport organizers and referees, as well as onsite coordinator for activities.
  • Evaluate and assess current programs and make recommendations if program remodeling is required.
  • Maintain inventory of and distribution of equipment and supplies for Intramural sport programs; assist in the suggestion of ordering of new equipment.
  • Help with the recruitment, training and evaluation of sport organizers and referees. Including participate in the interview process for supporting positions.
  • Help with the enforcement of all intramural sport policies and specific games rules for all events and assist with regular updates to these rules and policies, including leading captain meeting at the beginning of the semester.

Sport Organizer

Recreation sports programs include intramurals leagues, drop-in times and special events run by students for students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Sport Organizers will work as a team to collaborate and organize recreational opportunities that promote active living and community development in a fun, respectful and inclusive environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On-the-ground delivery and supervision of games, checking in participants, verifying waivers/IDs, and collecting fees.
  • Setting up and taking down equipment and ensuring facilities are ready for play.
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment by assisting participants and answering recreation-related questions.
  • Organizing teams, acting as an official, and ensuring games run smoothly, including scorekeeping.
  • Enforcing rules, resolving conflicts, promoting fair play and managing safety and risk management.
  • Providing first aid support and contacting security when necessary.
  • Preparing event reports and offering feedback for future improvements.

Sport Official

Intramural Sport leagues, and tournaments are run by students for students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Intramural Sport Officials help create a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for participants. If you have knowledge of recreational sports and enjoy being part of the action, this role offers a great way to get involved. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Refereeing games, enforcing rules, and resolving on-site conflicts fairly and confidently within the Intramural rules and procedures.
  • Assisting with set-up and take-down of facilities and equipment.
  • Recording scores, completing reports (e.g., incidents, protests), and communicating with sport organizers and recreation staff.
  • Working closely with Sport Organizers, Intramural Assistants, and Safety Officers.
  • Upholding Campus Recreation guiding principles and sport-specific rules.
  • Commit to inclusivity and respect for all colleagues and players.
  • Providing first aid support and contacting security when necessary.

Multimedia and Engagement Assistant

The Multimedia & Engagement Assistant plays a key role in promoting Campus Recreation & Active Living programs and enhancing student engagement. This position supports the development and design of a wide range of promotional materials and social media content. The assistant will contribute to content planning and creation across multiple platforms for initiatives such as special events, drop鈥慽n programs, intramural leagues, and fitness classes. In addition, they will capture and edit photo and video content for promotional use and collaborate with the Recreation Assistant and Program Manager to produce a weekly newsletter highlighting upcoming programs.

Responsibilities

  • Capture high鈥憅uality images and videos of participants involved in Campus Recreation programs and services, ensuring the content effectively highlights and supports the 糖心原创 Campus Recreation student experience.
  • Edit and refine photos and video footage for promotional use, including organizing, cataloguing, and managing the storage of all digital content.
  • Support the development and creation of promotional materials such as videos, newsletters, blog posts, infographics, and other multimedia content.
  • Manage and contribute to Campus Recreation’s social media accounts, with a primary focus on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan that includes online promotional content and social media coverage for programs, facilities, services, and events.
  • Design posters, flyers, brochures, advertisements, and other creative marketing materials to support program visibility and engagement.
  • Produce and distribute news releases, blog posts, and other digital communications for Campus Recreation & Active Living programs, services, and events.
  • Assist with the planning and production of audio and video projects to support Campus Recreation & Active Living programs initiatives.
  • Support Recreation staff with additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Certified Fitness Instructor

糖心原创 Campus Recreation look for a certified fitness instructor to lead and deliver group fitness classes in a variety aerobic activity, muscular strength, stretch, dance, spin, yoga or mind body discipline in a safe and effective format. Instructors must be certified to instruct group fitness classes for a specified health or fitness program, from a credible governing body. First Aid and CPR certifications are required.

Fitness classes assignment is between 1-4 classes, at 30-60 minutes in duration per week. Instructors are need on both the Abbotsford and Chiilliwack campuses. Wages are competative starting from $20-$35 per class; depends on experience and number of years taught.

Responsibilities

  • Instructed fitness class during assigned scheduled days and times in accordance with fitness schedule and contract.
  • Ensure all participants have registered for a fitness pass or are 糖心原创 students and have completed a waiver prior to their participation in fitness classes.
  • Inform participants of the rules and regulations, as well as safety concerns related to the activity.
  • Develop fitness routines which follow proper technique and are appropriate for the group of participants at the time of each class.
  • Beginning and ending fitness class on time; with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching and cool- down.
  • Enforce all facility and program policies and ensure safety standards are met.
  • In the case of an accident or injury, follow emergency procedure as outlined in orientation and submitting the appropriate injury report form to Program Manager.
  • All qualifications, certificates and insurance must be maintained and submitted.

Qualifications

  • Current First Aid/CPR and AED certification
  • Fully Insured (if NOT a 糖心原创 student)
  • Preferred but not required, working towards or completion of Kinesiology degree
  • Must have accredit group fitness certification (proof of certification required):

Facility & Events Assistant

Job Description

The Facility & Events Assistant plays a vital role in the coordination and execution of events within the 糖心原创 Athletics and Campus Recreation facility. This individual will provide support with event and facility management throughout the entire event planning process. Responsibilities include: liaising with requested internal and external facility renters; assistance in the coordination and execution during Cascade Varsity events; preparing and completing tasks associated to facility and event coordination; physical capability to promote responsible safe practices within the facility and its equipment; assistance with other related facility & event coordination.

Qualifications

  • Maintain excellent written and oral interpersonal communication with supervisors, staff and facility renters/users
  • Previous knowledge and experience in project or event operations is considered an asset
  • A basic understanding of computers may be required in preparing necessary related documents
  • Organizational and prioritizing skills with an attention to detail is an asset
  • Capability of performing, safe hands-on physical work - ability to lift items up to 30lbs.
  • An interest in recreation and athletic activity is recommended
  • Ability to work at Abbotsford campuses and evening and weekends, as required
  • First Aid is considered and asset

Facility Attendant

Job Description

The Facility Attendant is a student-employee, Cascades Crew member who represents and provides on-site supervision and customer service of the 糖心原创 Athletics and Campus Recreation facilities on both Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses based out of the Client Services desk.Reporting to the Facilities Operations Coordinator the Facility Attendants role includes enforcing facility policies, making equipment available to various users, aids in providing a safe and clean facility, and performs a variety of customer service and support functions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Maintaining a high-level of knowledge of schedules, rates and programs offered
  • Enforcing facility policies and procedures including membership process and proper documentation
  • Receiving and processing payments (cash, debit and credit card)
  • Answer incoming calls and emails, and respond to or redirect inquires to appropriate staff
  • Maintaining adequate inventory and examination of equipment
  • Performing various minor maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility, including but not limited to dry-mopping and laundry
  • Preparing facility space for user groups (e.g. equipment, protective mats, tables/chairs etc.)
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and initiating Emergency Action Plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Volunteer Sport Organizer (drop-in sports)

The Campus Recreation & Active Living Sport Organizer works directly with the Campus Recreation, Program Manager and Intramural Assistants with the organization and daily operations of recreational sport leagues, drop-in, and tournaments on one or both campuses. They will collaborate with other Campus Recreation student staff and volunteers to help continually develop and improve sport events. All sport events are designed to help increase a student’s sense of community, campus engagement and promote personal sustainability. In addition to they will help with:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for on-site supervision of sport activity and be the main points of contact participants.
  • Ensures that participants check-in prior to participation of any gym activity (waiver signed and ID verification).
  • Organize teams and ensure games start and end, and possibly keep time and score keeper.
  • Oversees the preparation and takedown of the playing area, including the return of equipment to the Client Service desk.
  • Resolves possible conflicts as needed and enforce Facility Rules and Social Sport Guiding Principles in addition to the specific sport rules.
  • Promotes a safe environment for all participants and provide basic first aid care and communication to Campus Security for first aid assistance.

 Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be able to commit to 2-3 hours per week.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Personal commitment to health and wellness.
  • Ability to take initiative and comfortable working as a team and on your own
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certified is an asset but not mandatory 

Concession Attendant 

The Concession Attendant is responsible for all aspects of the ticketing/concession booth during Cascades game nights. Beginning in October, the Attendant will work from of the ticketing/concession booth at the 糖心原创 Athletic Centre for Cascades Basketball and Volleyball, and other applicable events.

Responsibilities

  • Address customer comments and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Track ticketing and concession purchases to produce end-of-night totals for Event Coordinator.
  • Process cash and debit/credit payments for tickets, refreshments, and Cascade merchandise.
  • Produce accurate cash float and deposit, experience handling cash will be considered an asset.
  • Maintain inventory of merchandise and concession items, notifying Events Coordinator when stock is low.
  • Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed when serving customers and replenishing hot and cold food items.
  • Clean up ticketing/concession booth at the end of the night – sweep floors, clean countertops and popcorn machine, dispose of any garbage, etc.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with experience working in a customer service-oriented role will be given priority. Serving it Right and FoodSafe certification will be considered assets.

Soccer Scoresheet

The Scoresheet is responsible for recording game data on the official score sheets during 糖心原创 Cascades home games. This position will be work closely with the statistician to ensure accuracy of substitutions, plays, fouls, and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) starting line-ups, foul information, and final signatures.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the score sheet accurately reflects the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside statistician to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in soccer will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.

A reliable mode of transportation is preferred as our soccer fields are considered off site.

Soccer Scoresheet

The Soccer Statistician is responsible for maintaining the official stats, scores, and records during Cascade home games. This position will be working closely with the scoresheet, and the referee officials to ensure accuracy of substitutions, plays, fouls, and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) starting line-ups, foul information, and final signatures.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the stats accurately reflect the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet individual to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in soccer will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.

Volleyball 3 Ball Attendant

The 3 Ball Attendant is responsible for retrieving volleyballs during all Cascades home games, from October to February.

The 3 Ball Attendant will gain direction from Volleyball officials, 糖心原创 Athletics Event Coordinator, and home/visiting teams. Attendants will retrieve volleyballs during the varsity warm-up, wipe off and pass the volleyballs to varsity players during the game. This position is an integral part of keeping the flow of the game consistent for teams and gives individuals the opportunity to contribute to a high-level sporting event while watching courtside.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend/Commit to majority of games during the varsity season.
  • Be aware and proactive based on official calls and serving team.
  • Maintain a professional manner while presenting the Cascades brand.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Athletic Events Coordinator.
  • Qualifications

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in volleyball will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset. Volleyball Scoresheet

The Scoresheet is responsible for recording game data on the official score sheets during 糖心原创 Cascades home games. This position will be work closely with the score clock attendant and the volleyball officials to ensure accuracy of rotation, eligible players, and points per set.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) starting line-ups, foul information, and final signatures.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the score sheet accurately reflects the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside score clock and statistician to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in Volleyball will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.

Volleyball Scorekeeper

The Scorekeeper is responsible for running the score clock during 糖心原创 Cascades home Volleyball games. The score keeper will work closely with the scoresheet individual and the referees to ensure that the score, timeouts, substitutions, and between set times are all accurate during all home Volleyball games.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and would be best suited for someone with knowledge of Volleyball rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the score clock accurately reflects the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet and statistician to ensure information displayed on playboard matches that on scoresheet and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in volleyball will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset. Volleyball Score Clock

The Score clock individual is responsible for running the score clock and keeping score by flipping the score pads during 糖心原创 Cascades home volleyball games. The score keeper will work closely with the scoresheet individual and the referees to ensure that the game time, game clock, and score are all accurate during all home Volleyball games.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and would be best suited for someone with knowledge of volleyball rules and regulations. It also gives you the opportunity to watch high-level university volleyball games.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) starting line-ups, foul information, and final signatures.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the score sheet accurately reflects the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet individual and the statistician to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in volleyball, and/or sports in general will be given priority. Past experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.

Volleyball Stats Spotter

The Stat Spotter is responsible for maintaining the official stats, scores, and records during Cascade home games. As a stat spotter you are to call the game live as the play progresses so that the statistician can input the plays of the game into the stat program. The stat spotter should also learn the stat program in case of absence of statistician.   

This role is perfect for a volleyball enthusiast and someone who understands the mechanics of the sport. It also gives you the opportunity to get paid to watch many high-level university volleyball games.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor each play of the game and call the game play live for the statistician.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet, score clock, and statistician to ensure projected information accurately depicts game.
  • Liaise with game officials to obtain accurate information and clarify calls.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in volleyball will be given priority. Experience in a similar role will also be considered an asset. 

Volleyball Statistician

The Statistician is responsible for maintaining the official stats, scores, and records during Cascade home games. As a Statistician you must input and keep track of plays and input them into the stats program as the stats spotter calls during the game.

This role is perfect for a volleyball enthusiast, who understands the mechanics of the sport. It also gives you the opportunity to get paid to watch many high-level university volleyball games.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor each play of the game and input them into the stat program.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet, score board operator, and stat spotter to ensure projected information accurately depicts game.
  • Liaise with game officials to obtain accurate information and clarify calls.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Individuals with knowledge of/experience in volleyball will be given priority. Experience in a similar role will also be considered an asset. 

Basketball Scorekeeper

The Scorekeeper is responsible for running the score clock, game clock, and keeping score during 糖心原创 Cascades home basketball games. The score clock individual will work closely with the scoresheet individual and the referees to ensure that the game clock and score clock are all accurate during all home Basketball games.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and would be best suited for someone with knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) foul information, timeouts, substitutions, scorekeeping, and timekeeping.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the score clock accurately reflects the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside scoresheet and statistician to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

Successful candidate will be a 糖心原创 student and demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative. Basketball Scoresheet

The Scoresheet is responsible for maintaining the official scores, points, fouls, player substitutions, and records during Cascade home games.

This position will be working closely with the statistician, timekeeper, score clock, shot clock, and referee officials to ensure accuracy of information.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with coaches of both teams, officials, etc. to obtain crucial data throughout the game, including (but not limited to) starting line-ups, foul information, and final signatures.
  • Closely monitor game play to ensure the stats accurately reflect the game at hand.
  • Work closely alongside timekeeper, score clock, and statistician to ensure records are accurate and consistent across the scoring table.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment.
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator.

Basketball Stats Spotter

Stat Spotter is responsible for maintaining the official stats, scores, and records during Cascade home games. As a stat spotter you are to assist the statistician with keeping track of the plays and calling the game for the statistician to input into the stat program. This person should also learn the stat program in case of absence of statistician.

This role is perfect for a basketball enthusiast and gives you the opportunity to get paid to watch many high-level university basketball games.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor each play of the game and verbally call out the actions to the statistician.
  • Work closely alongside scorekeeper, score board operator, and statistician to ensure projected information accurately depicts game

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and would be best suited for someone with knowledge of basketball rules and regulations. This position would also be great for basketball enthusiasts as you get paid to watch some of the best basketball in USPORTS.

Public Announcer - Multiple sports

The Public Address Announcer is the main voice of the 糖心原创 Cascades. The PA Announcer announces starting line-ups, game action, public address announcements, presentations, and contests. Public Address Announcer positions are available for Cascades soccer games (played at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford), as well as basketball and volleyball games (played at the 糖心原创 Athletic Centre on the Abbotsford campus).

While we have a veteran voice of Ian Wilson who has been the voice of the Cascades for 6 years, Ian has been given the opportunity to announce at the semi-professional level from time to time leaving us without a voice for our games. This position will be working alongside Ian filling in where he is unavailable and learning from his many years of expertise. The goal of this position will be for the individual to eventually move into the role of our veteran voice. Although students are preferred, if you are near graduation, we are more than happy to employ you during and after your time at 糖心原创.

Responsibilities

  • Strong vocal talent to comfortably and clearly announce to large crowds, both indoors and outdoors (sport dependent)
  • Strong knowledge of soccer, basketball, and/or volleyball including (but not limited to) game rules, positions, and terms. Knowledge of sport at a university level (previous familiarity with teams, athletes, etc.) will be considered an asset
  • Ability to both read from a script, as well as improvise when necessary
  • Maintain a professional and approachable personality, particularly when communicating with coaches, officials, and other game day staff
  • Assist with the set-up and tear-down of Cascades game day equipment
  • Carry out tasks specifically given by Athletic Events Coordinator

Game Day Operations Assistant

Working within the Athletics and Campus Recreation Department, the “Game Day Operations Assistant” will have the opportunity to learn the planning and execution of game day operations for all 糖心原创 varsity games and events. The student will be working hands-on in the logistics and coordination of all casual employees that look after the scorer’s table, referees, broadcasting, audio, and concessions. Our goal is for the student to develop a breadth of competencies including: project coordination, sport management experience, communication skills, an attention to detail, adaptability, leadership and a sense of resourcefulness. The student will be required to work alongside both the Varsity Events Coordinator and Facilities Operations Coordinator through-out the season.

The Game Day Operations Assistant is pivotal in the production of all game day events, coordinated by the 糖心原创 Athletics and Campus Recreational Department. This individual will support both the Varsity Events Coordinator and Facilities Operations Coordinator with the setup and tear down of each event, as well as the on-hands supervision of all causal employees that are a part of the Cascades game day crew.

This role provides fantastic resume buildings for individuals who are interested in working in sport, events, athletics, or any industry that requires multi-tasking and fast paced environments. This role also provides the opportunity for the individual to run game days when the coordinator is unavailable/sick giving them unmeasurable experience for their future endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with visiting teams
  • Assistance in the coordination and execution during Cascade Varsity events
  • Coordinating referees upon arrival
  • Supervision of game day production
  • Help supervise front of house concession along with community engagement
  • Assistance with other related event coordination

Qualifications

  • Successful candidate will demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, strong communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to take initiative.
  • Some experience in a game day atmosphere at any sport level
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • Previous knowledge and experience in project or event operations is considered an asset
  • Basic understanding of computers considered an asset; as well as software like prestosports
  • Capability of performing, safe hands-on physical work – ability to lift items up to 30lbs
  • An interest in university sports and sport management is highly recommended

Play by Play & Colour Commentators 

The Play by Play & Colour Commentators are the main voice on our broadcast for Canada West TV. The commentators announce/address the starting line-ups, game action (play by play), Canada West stats, three keys to the games, match ups, and any other information that follows Canada West TV guidelines. Play by Play and Colour commentators are available for Cascades soccer games (played at Rotary Stadium).

Responsibilities
